Letter: Why it is wrong to look down on Rockwell

Sir: Many of today's generation will be unaware of the name Norman Rockwell. In my youth I would eagerly seek out the Saturday Evening Post just to marvel at Mr Rockwell's front cover illustrations. In those days the price was beyond my pocket.

Peter Pringle's article was an excellent piece of journalism, it is just a pity that America has seen fit (the institutions and critics) to ignore such a fine artist. However, I am certain that he still lives on in the memory of thousands of ordinary people like me.

Yours sincerely,

JOHN THOMAS
