Letter: Workable blasphemy laws in a liberal society

Sir: The pound has been left to find its place in the market-place. Contrary to Professor Dummett (Letters, 17 September), I suggest that the blasphemy laws be abolished and all faiths and none be allowed to find their place in the market-place of opinion in our liberal society.

As an evangelical Christian, I am convinced enough of the truthfulness of my convictions not to require the protection of a blasphemy law. It is only a weak system of belief that needs such protection.

Yours faithfully,

CHARLES de LACY
