From Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski

Sir: If recent developments have taught us anything, it is that good teaching is "good" largely to the extent that it is informed directly by scholarly research, and that the notorious short-termism of British businesses and financial institutions is inherently hostile to serious backing by business for anything other than minor applied research projects.

Yours sincerely,

Ferdinand von Prondzynski
