From Miss Marjorie Dawson Sir: If Maia Ni Bhrolchain finds that "paintings of naked women ... have no place in a public space", I suggest she stays away from Britain's major art galleries, many of which contain fine specimens of the genre. The nude (not always female) has had its place in art for centuries and extreme attitudes such as this could, if taken seriously, be damaging to both art and artists.

Yours sincerely, MARJORIE DAWSOn London, E17
