LETTERS: Missing Labour voters

HAS Labour not considered that many party members not on the voting register may be victims of poll tax disenfranchisement ("Labour poised to expel 400", 13 August)? If so, 400 is likely to be the tip of an iceberg nationally.

Is it not enough that key people associated with the Labour establishment were more concerned with prosecuting than defending poor defaulters without the Labour Party now apparently dealing them a double blow by overlooking their cause and silently proposing expulsion rather than voicing the real legacy and injustice of this tax to disenfranchise the poor?
