LETTER : Love and bonding at the zoo

HAVING worked at Howletts for over three years and enjoyed every single moment of my interaction with the animals - friends would be more appropriate - I sincerely hope there will be a reconciliation with the members of Canterbury city council who have, in my opinion, taken misguided action against our wild animal park ("Keeper fights to get back in the tiger cage", 16 July).

I know from my hand-rearing experience that there is no feeling to compare, after rearing your animal day and night, with forever being accepted by that animal as a friend.

If it is John Aspinall and Nick Marx's wish to continue the bond, they should be allowed to do so. After all, the staff choose to be at the zoo and we have never been forced to do anything against our wishes.
