Letter: Rest in (green) peace
AFTER reading ''Exit the fine and private place?'' (20 November) about Britain's full churchyards, I remembered an article from the Independent, ''A natural place to be buried'' (26 May).
Surely a nature reserve/
forest burial ground with no gravestones but plaques on the trees is an excellent alternative? My mother has already put herself down for ''green burial'' and the idea of visiting her remains in a beautiful wood full of wildlife is much more uplifting than walking through a new graveyard full of environmentally dead green lawn and rows of stone or marble crosses.
