Oliver James's argument that the poorer are more likely to be aggressive or depressed than the richer is important ("Up on a higher level", Review, 18 August). But to propose that doctors prescribe more drugs to those made angry or depressed by the conditions they endure only colludes with maintaining the inequalities in society. Those of us working in the mental health field might usefully adopt the motto "Redistribution of wealth is good for your health!".
