From Mr Tom Shebbeare Sir: Andrew Brown must have lost all sense of humour and judgement ("Charles: Spike's part in his downfall", 10 December).

Spike Milligan did not "denounce" Prince Charles as a "little grovelling bastard". Rather, he cracked a brilliant one-liner which sent his audience (which would surely have included the Prince - had he been watching) into convulsions of laughter.

Yours faithfully, TOM SHEBBEARE The Prince's Trust London, WC1
