Sir: The Conservative party likes to make much of the phrase "level playing field". It was, therefore, instructive to learn that its leadership election rules are all but on the level. What election allows new entrants half way through?

I hereby declare that if Pete Sampras is eliminated from the Wimbledon championship before the finals, I shall enter the contest.
