Nicki Minaj has defended herself after cancelling a show in France.

Fans of the rapper were waiting outside the Arkea Arena in Bordeaux on Saturday night (9 March) when the singer cancelled the performance.

Minaj was pictured earlier in the night taking photos with fans at the venue, where they waited until officially being told the show was cancelled.

The singer explained herself on Instagram soon after, saying that technical issues were to blame.

"You guys, it’s not in my best interest not to perform, lose money and aggravate my fans," she said in a video while smoking a cigar.

"I love performing for my fans, I’m more excited than you are before the show.

"These two cities that had technical issues are cities that I’d never been to before and we tried to add them but they just didn’t have the power in the building to facilitate my show and they didn’t tell us until three hours before the show as opposed to once we did sound check they said it was fine.

"But anyway, every artist has technical difficulties and has to cancel shows. I want to tell you guys that I love you dearly and I really hope to make it up very soon."

The venue later issued a statement, confirming there were technical issues that left Minaj and supporting artist Juice Wrld unable to perform.

Minaj cancelled a tour date in Slovakia last month also due to technical difficulties.
