Tyler, the Creator has praised a fellow musician for her comedy breakdown of his creative process.

Seattle artist Nat Puff, also known as Left at London, tweeted a video titled “How to make a Tyler, the Creator” song where she built up various elements of piano, beats, synth and rap in the light-hearted parody video.

“First start with a sh**ty piano and pick a f***ing chord,” she explains, then encouraging viewers to add “an out of key synth that is nowhere near the original key of the song”.

“Now the background vocals normally have to be some sort of semblance of you talking [with a] really pitched-down voice, saying, ‘F***’, ‘Yeah’, ‘S**t’, and ‘Uh’. That’s it,” she added.

For the lyrics, she suggested seeking inspiration from “violence, made up words, hating your father, and not being gay” to emulate Tyler’s earlier work.

Moving onto the Flower Boy era, she noted: “The lyrical content is going to be different here because the Tyler sound shifted dramatically between these two eras, but this is mostly because his persona went from a homophobic psychopath to a… lonely gay man who created the Grinch soundtrack? Does that sound right? That doesn’t seem right.”

After the clip was shared thousands of times, Tyler, the Creator himself caught wind of it and shared his thoughts.

“I legit laughed this [is] lowkey spot on OMG,” he captioned the post. “(YOU FORGOT THE ‘AYO’ THO).”

Left at London previously went viral for another video where she gave a tutorial for how to make a Frank Ocean song.

Tyler, the Creator’s last full-length release, Flower Boy, was released in 2017. He was recently the subject of a petition by fans who want Theresa May to lift the ban currently preventing him from visiting or performing in the UK.
