Danny John-Jules breaks silence over Strictly ‘bullying’ allegations: ‘It was always professional’

Actor is currently preparing for his one-man show about Rat Pack legend Sammy Davis Jr

Danny John-Jules has spoken about his experience on Strictly Come Dancing after his eight-week run on the last series.

The actor, who is preparing to launch his new one-man show about Rat Pack legend Sammy Davis Jr, faced allegations of “bullying” after reports surfaced of his behaviour behind the scenes towards dance partner Amy Dowden.

John-Jules categorically denied the rumours surrounding the BBC show, and has now been interviewed by The Sun, where he revealed that his time on the show had only reignited his love of performing.

“With me and Amy, it was always professional”, the 58-year-old explained. “I came in professional and I left professional.

“As many times as I had Amy dripping off me and I was dripping off her, at no point did we ever have a conversation that wasn't about dance. I didn't have to broadcast what happened. I didn't want to wash anybody's dirty laundry in public.”

He added: “I did everything truthfully and honestly and I wouldn't do anything differently. I was expecting [the backlash] because people always talk crap about me. But I did exactly what I was hired to do and what I promised to do, which was to dance my a*** off.”

John-Jules concluded by saying he had “no regrets” about his time on the show.
