A 19-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital where he is in a critical condition after being stabbed on a London bus on Saturday afternoon.

Scotland Yard said the man had suffered a stab wound to the chest while aboard the route 134 bus at Colney Hatch Lane in North Finchley, north London.

Police and the ambulance service were called to reports of a stabbing at 4.40pm.

“He was taken to an east London hospital by Air Ambulance where his condition is currently critical,” the Metropolitan Police said.

“At this early stage there have been no arrests.”

Officers from Barnet are investigating.

The police said: “If there are any young people who either have information about violence or knife crime, they can visit www.fearless.org where they can pass on information anonymously.”
