Hundreds of museums and art galleries across the country will stay open late or all night next weekend as part of the Museums At Night project.

This year, 80 venues also submitted event ideas for one of 10 artists to take part in at their museum or gallery. The artists shortlisted the ideas they liked, then the organiser Culture24 whittled it down to three venues per artist and the public voted online.

The Victoria Gallery and Museum, Liverpool, will host Polly Morgan's live taxidermy demonstration, and Yorkshire Museum and Gardens is taking some of its taxidermy collection into shopping centres to whip up support.

The Towner in Eastbourne won its request for Bob and Roberta Smith to turn the contemporary art museum into a nightclub.

'Museums At Night' runs from 18 to 20 May (www.museumsatnight.org.uk)
