Comedy festival of the week: Brighton Comedy Festival, various venues
Friday's Opening Night Gala (Alan Carr, Jack Dee, Jon Richardson, Kevin Bridges...) announces the Brighton Comedy Festival for what it is: a big, brassy bash with an unashamed eye on the top dogs.
A good amount of this year's Edinburgh nominees (and winners) are pitching up, including Bridget Christie, brilliantly putting feminism back on the agenda with A Bic for Her, Seann Walsh, Mike Wozniak and James Acaster.
Elsewhere, get your sketch kicks from Pappy's, Pajama Men and Max & Ivan; offbeat delights from Simon Munnery, Tony Law and David O'Doherty; and big-league hits from Jimmy Carr, Sean Lock and Milton Jones.
