Eurovision 2015: Nigella Lawson confirmed to read out UK's voting results in song contest final

She may be known for her love of cooking rather than cheesy pop, but Nigella Lawson has been confirmed for a key role in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The TV cook, 55, will be reading out the UK's voting results during the grand final of the annual competition in Vienna this coming Saturday night.

Lawson, known for her sultry voice, confirmed the news on Twitter this morning:

She was asked to join the party by the BBC after tweeting a photo of herself wearing a fake beard in support of last year's winner, Austrian drag queen Conchita Wurst.

Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills has read the UK's voting results for the past few years. He will present coverage of the Eurovision semi-finals with Sue Perkins on BBC3 for 2015 but has the Radio 1 Big Weekend already in his diary for the weekend.

This year marks Eurovision's 60th anniversary and will see Australia take part for the first time in honour of the Building Bridges theme.

Pop duo Electro Velvet, made up of Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas, are determined to make the UK proud with their performance of the upbeat "Still In Love With You".

The first Eurovision semi-final takes place tomorrow night before the second on Thursday. Ten of the highest-scoring countries from each semi-final will be awarded a place in the final.

It was recently revealed that US cooking show The Taste, on which Lawson is a judge, has been axed. But she will be returning for a new series of her BBC2 show Simply Nigella later this year.
