Screen heavyweights Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley are to star together as criminals in an upcoming new thriller.

Hopkins and Kingsley will be joined in Autobahn by British actors Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones, who play the two lead characters.

The thriller will follow a young American couple, Casey and Juliette, who are plunged into a cat and mouse chase across Germany after they find themselves caught between Hopkins and Kingsley’s criminal characters.

Despite both being in their seventies, Hopkins and Kingsley continue to accept film roles at a steady rate.

Hopkins, 76, currently stars in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, and last year played Odin in Thor: The Dark World.

Kingsley, 70, starred in Iron Man 3 last year and is due to appear in Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings in December.

Nicholas Hoult, who has risen to international fame since starring in About A Boy as a child, has recently been cast in a number of Hollywood blockbusters and will next appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Birmingham-born Felicity Jones currently stars in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and made a brief appearance in Girls series three.

The movie, which will be produced by Joel Silver, has already begun filming in Germany,

Silver said: “When I first read F. Scott Frazier’s script for Autobahn, I knew it had the makings of a great action movie. It’s a gritty, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride through Europe with an incredible cast.”

Autobahn is due for release later this year in time for the awards season.
