Can you think of the last good video-game to film adaptation you saw? That last Hitman film - ouch. Resident Evil had some really bad sequels. Mortal Combat was over 20 years ago now!

In 2016, however, things look set to change. First of all, there’s the upcoming Warcraft: The Beginning, a CGI explosion that looks relatively promising with Moon’s Duncan Jones at the helm.

Then there’s Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed, which everyone seems very, very excited for, so much so that when the initial costume was released the internet literally went gaga.

With so much faith in their upcoming film, New Regency has already started work on the sequel, signing on Fassbender and most of the crew to return, according to The Tracking Board.

It comes as no real surprise; the first film has an estimated budget of between $150 - $200 million, and the video-game series now has nine major entries.

New Regency, along with co-investors Alpha Pictures International and RatPac Entertainment, sure have a lot of confidence in the film if they’re already initiating work on the sequel. Let's hope the first one is good.
