Marvel fans are pointing out some crucial flaws in the decision of Donald Trump’s campaign team to depict the president as Avengers villain Thanos.

A video posted on the official Trump War Room Twitter account shows Trump’s face superimposed onto Thanos’s body in a scene from Avengers: Endgame that features the character saying “I am inevitable”, before snapping his fingers in an attempt to destroy all life in the universe.

While Thanos creator Jim Starlin has condemned the advert, Marvel fans are highlighting the fact that the scene Trump's team have used is the one in which the character is defeated by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr).

“Trump’s team is presenting him as a narcissistic child-abusing villain intent on wiping out half of all life, AND picked the moment right before Thanos was defeated,” one user wrote.

Another quipped: “Impeachment is inevitable.”

One fan dug a little deeper into Marvel comic history and found that the first time Thanos’ destructive behaviour included knocking down Trump Towers.

“Wonder if the Trump supporters knows what Thanos did in the comics,” Rob Champion wrote.

This isn’t the first time Trump has been criticised for using films and TV shows in his campaign videos.

In January, he posted a photo promoting his proposed border wall between the US and Mexico on Instagram with the slogan “The Wall is Coming”, parodying the “Winter is Coming” motto of the Stark family in Game of Thrones.

However, fans immediately pointed out that Trump’s poster was inaccurate as – in the world of Game of Throneswalls most certainly do not work.

Season seven saw the destruction of the giant wall that was designed to keep White Walkers from entering Westeros.
