Bill & Ted 3: trailer 2

New release plans have been unveiled for the third Bill & Ted film.

Bill & Ted Face the Music, in which Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprise their respective roles in the franchise, is now scheduled for release on 1 September.

The movie will be released both on video-on-demand and in some cinemas.

A theatrical release was originally slated for August, but those plans had to be amended as the coronavirus pandemics caused cinemas around the world and across the US to shut down.

The new date was announced on Thursday, at the same time as a new trailer was unveiled for the sequel.

In addition to Reeves and Winter, Bill & Ted Face the Music will feature Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving, respectively as Ted and Bill's daughters.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, the first film in the series, was released in 1989.

It was followed in 1991 by Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.

Reeves and Winter confirmed in March last year that a new instalment would finally get made, two decades after the original.
