The first trailer for Bird Box – the upcoming Netflix thriller starring Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson and John Malkovich – has arrived.
Based on Josh Malerman’s 2014 debut novel of the same name, the story follows a mother (Bullock) and her two children who navigate a world overcome by monsters.
The catch? The monsters transform into a person’s darkest fear, leading them to kill themselves – therefore, survivors of the initial infestation wear blindfolds to avoid seeing the monsters.

The premise has already drawn comparisons to A Quiet Place, the horror mega-hit starring John Krasinski which followed a family that traverses an apocalyptic world where killer monsters hunt with sound.
Bird Box is directed by Susanne Bier – best known for the film In A Better World and BBC series The Night Manager – and also starring BD Wong, Jacki Weaver, and Rosa Salazar.
