Brad Pitt’s latest movie Fury is said to have brought more than £1 million of investment to the Oxfordshire village it was filmed in.

The production company estimates it has invested more than £1 million in the local economy during its shoot over the past seven weeks.

World War II film Fury, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, was filmed in and around Shirburn and Watlington in south Oxfordshire.

The film, which is expected to be released next November, has an estimated budget of $80 million (£50m).

Producer Ethan Smith told the Henley Standard: “We know that filming in a close-knit community over seven weeks can at times present some challenges for the residents but we appreciate our mutual business relationship.”

The film has experienced some troubles since production began in the Chiltern foothills in September.

In October, a stuntman was accidentally stabbed in the shoulder with a bayonet while rehearsing an action sequence for the film.

Director David Ayer was also forced to apologise after filming scenes on Remembrance Sunday.

Fury, which centres on a band of American soldiers fighting in Germany towards the end of World War II, also stars Logan Lerman and Michael Pena.
