Brittany Murphy's final film Something Wicked to be released
The movie will be shown in the US for the first time next month
Brittany Murphy's final film, Something Wicked, is to be released more than four years after her death at the age of 32.
According to the film's official Facebook page, Something Wicked will be shown on 4 April at the Regal Valley River Center 15 in Eugene, Oregon, where the movie was shot.
It will then be rolled out across several Regal cinemas in Portland and Seattle in the following weeks.
Filming for Something Wicked was completed just months before the actress' sudden death.
Writer and producer Joe Colleran told the New York Daily News: “It is an additional responsibility, you do want her performance to be the best it can be, because unfortunately it's her last performance.
"The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it's very emotional," he said.
The thriller, tag-lined “love is a tragedy waiting to happen”, follows a young couple whose wedding plans are upset by dark secrets from the past.
It also stars Shantel VanSanten of One Tree Hill and Julian Morris of Pretty Little Liars.
A coroner ruled that Murphy died from a combination of drug intoxication, pneumonia and anaemia, after she collapsed in the bathroom of her Los Angeles home on 20 December 2009. A verdict of death by accidental and natural causes was given at the time.
But conspiracy theories have circulated suggesting that the death of the actress was caused by toxic mould in her home or deliberate poisoning.
The actress' husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, was found dead just five months after Murphy, with pneumonia and anaemia named as the cause.
