The Flood: Exclusive trailer

Game of Thrones stars Lena Headey and Iain Glen star in a new drama from director Anthony Woodley.

Headey, who played Cersei on the HBO show, plays a hardened immigration officer who’s offered a high-profile asylum case, based on her ability to quickly and clinically reject applicants.

She’s tasked with reviewing the case of Haile (Ivano Jeremiah), who has travelled 5000 kilometres across oceans and borders to find safety and solace in the UK, ending up in France’s Calais Jungle.

Written by Helen Kingston, and based on multiple true stories, the film hopes to highlight the arduous and perilous journeys undertaken by refugees, in comparison to the slow and clinical response from those whose help they seek.

The filmmakers undertook intense research for the project, having volunteered at the Calais Jungle and interviewed ex-Home Office officials. The film hopes to take a measured and objective look at the issue.

The Flood is released in UK cinemas and on demand on 21 June, to coincide with World Refugee Day on 20 June. A special event screening followed by a panel discussion will take place on 17 June.
