Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss land first feature film Dirty White Boys

Team will tackle another novel adaptation

Game of Thrones writers David Benioff and DB Weiss are to make their first foray into film with a comedy thriller called Dirty White Boys that centres on a trio of fugitives.

The pair, who so successfully adapted George R. R. Martin's fantasy novels for HBO, will for this project use Stephen Hunter's novel of the same name.

Dirty White Boys will centre on three mismatched inmates who go on the run after escaping Oklahoma State Penitentiary, hiding out with a 'convict groupie' who murdered her parents as a teenager and trying to avoid being caught in spite of their gross incompetence.

Hunter's work has made it to the big screen before, with his 2007 novel Point of Impact becoming the Mark Wahlberg action film Shooter.

Don't expect the movie any time soon though, as Game of Thrones is keeping Benioff and Weiss pretty busy.

"This really is a 52-week-a-year job, so it's not like we're out there actively looking," Weiss told Deadline. "But after [writer Scott Frank] recommended it, the book sinks its claws into you, and you're stuck.

"You have to let it take you where it's going to take you, and we look forward to seeing where this one is going to take us."
