The first full trailer for Jason Bourne has dropped, the fifth Bourne film that sees Matt Damon return to the titular role.
“Why would he come back now?” Tommy Lee Jones’s CIA chief asks. If he's talking about the franchise in general, because it massively went downhill with Jeremy Renner as protagonist.
The latest instalment seems to focus on a Snowden-esque leak, which draws Bourne back into the world of punching dudes espionage.
“Remembering everything doesn’t mean you know everything,” Nicky Parsons warns him - Julia Styles back in the role.
The trailer teases all sorts of classic Bourne action, including him nailing henchmen with chair legs (it was previously pens) and a huge car chase sequence in Vegas.
Bourne is also seen slamming down Molotov cocktails at a riot outside the Greek parliament, spying on people in London and winning a bare knuckle boxing match with one blow.
Crucially, original director Paul Greengrass is back at the helm, with Alicia Vikander and Vincent Cassel joining the cast.
Damon previously told ComingSoon of where the film fits in the series:
"[In] The Bourne Ultimatum, the third act actually dovetails with the third act of The Bourne Supremacy.
"So technically when the Bourne character disappears, it's still 2004. So when this next one comes out [in 2016], it will have been 12 years in movie years that the character has been off the grid.
"What's happened in those intervening years gives you a story."
Jason Bourne opens in UK cinemas on 28 July, and a day later in the US on 29 July.
