The Avengers: Age Of Ultron Exclusive Interview with Jeremy Renner & Chris Evans

Jeremy Renner is in a “critical but stable” condition after he was involved in an accident while ploughing snow, the actor’s representative has said.

The Avengers star was airlifted to hospital after he suffered “serious injuries” during the weather-related incident on Sunday.

“We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while ploughing snow earlier today,” Renner’s publicist, Samantha Mast, said.

The Hawkeye actor, who owns a ranch above Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is with his family and “receiving excellent care”, the representative added.

Renner was ploughing the road around a quarter mile from his Nevada home to get his family out after a snowstorm on New Year’s Eve, according to TMZ.

The plough, a Snowcat, accidentally ran over one of the actor’s legs, leading to major blood loss, a neighbour said.

Another neighbour, a doctor, put a tourniquet on Renner’s legs until paramedics arrived. Police arrived at the scene around 8pm on Sunday night, impounding the Snowcat, which the actor has shown himself using on social media.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that it "responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada" on Sunday morning at 9am local time. It said Renner was the only party involved and he was transported to a local area hospital in a care flight. The incident is being investigated.

The actor became a household name following his role as a bomb disposal specialist in Iraq in 2008’s The Hurt Locker.

He received back-to-back Oscar nominations for his performances in Kathryn Bigelow’s war thriller and 2010 crime drama The Town.

He is also well-known for his role as Hawkeye in Marvel’s Avengers franchise, including the TV miniseries Hawkeye and he has also appeared in two Mission: Impossible films, Arrival, American Hustle and 28 Weeks Later.

His accident took place as the US was hit by a deadly and historic blizzard. At least 60 people died after the winter storm, called the “blizzard of the century”, pummelled North America with extreme cold and high winds.

The storm caused power outages, stranded people in cars, and cut power supplies to homes with police unable to reach those in need of help.

Renner posted a picture on Twitter on 13 December showing his car entirely covered in snow, writing in the caption: “Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke.”

Renner is scheduled to appear in the second season of Mayor of Kingstown, due to air in two weeks.
