Louis C.K returns with his unique brand of self-loathing (FX)

Having shown himself to be a talented and thoughtful director in FX series Louie, Louis CK is to next make an indie film called I'm A Cop.

The feature will tell the story of a "depressed middle-aged man" (naturally) who pursues a career in law enforcement following the death of his mother, a celebrated police officer whose career overshadowed her son's.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, but had no word on when the film is likely to be released. His first feature was supposed to be Pootie Tang, but he ended up canning the idea post-production.

In addition to Louie and stand-up, CK is set to play a cartoon terrier in the upcoming comedy The Secret Life of Pets. He is also supposed to be working on a new show Zach Galifianakis at FX, though details on it are still scant.

Louie is currently in its fifth season and getting braver with each series, falling somewhere in between Curb Your Enthusiasm, a Woody Allen comedy and a French indie film.
