Supersonic - Oasis Documentary Trailer

If you saw Asif Kapadia's Amy - the deeply poignant documentary about singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse who passed away in 2011 - then you'll know his producing credit on new documentary Supersonic carves it out as one to watch.

That it focuses on British group Oasis from their not-so-humble beginnings in 1993 to their legendary two-date fixture at Knebworth in 1995 hammers the point home.

Director Matt Whitecross (Spike Island) has been granted an unparallelled look into the troubled relationship between Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel who are both credited as executive producers.

Speaking at a special screening of the film at Festival No 6, where Noel headlined with his current band High Flying Birds - Whitecross expressed his belief that the siblings will one day reunite.

"Neither of them have discounted the idea of getting back together," he said. "It will happen, I'm sure. The idea of never seeing them again for me is impossible."

Liam, meanwhile, recently revealed he was to release a solo record reneging on his previous comments that suggested he wouldn't do so because he's "not a c*nt."

Supersonic will be released in cinemas on 2 October.
