As usual, Raindance Film Festival has not shied away from controversy. Two years ago its decision to screen A Serbian Film, so polarising that it was removed from FrightFest, raised eyebrows. This year's equivalent may be Vegetarian Cannibal (below), a Croatian film featuring late-term abortions and animal violence.

This year's Raindance, which takes place in London this month, is the biggest ever, with 105 feature films, 64 UK premieres and 19 world premieres.

Other hot tickets include Trashed, a documentary about global waste starring Jeremy Irons, Brit thriller Confine, starring Alfie Allen and Daisy Lowe and City Slacker, a romantic comedy starring Tom Conti.

Raindance, Apollo Cinema, Piccadilly Circus, London (raindance.co.uk) 26 September to 7 October
