Open casting search for Hugh Jackman film
The upcoming feature Real Steel, starring Hugh Jackman, has sent out a nationwide casting search in the US for a young male actor, age 10-14, to play the leading role of Max.
The futuristic boxing story follows the sport of robot-boxing involving 2,000-pound robots. Hugh Jackman plays a former boxer training for the World Championship title, with his long-lost son on his team.
The Max character is a street-smart yet charming kid with a tough, untrusting exterior that hides a warm enthusiastic spirit inside a complicated, strong-willed and resourceful boy. The film will be directed by Shawn Levy ( Night at the Museum) for a 2011 release.
Interested actors should submit a videotaped audition through www.realsteelcasting.com which details instructions. No acting experience is necessary nor is there any preparation required for the audition.
Auditions will be conducted in Chicago, Illinois on February 14 at the Academy of the Arts, and on February 20 in New York City at the Shelter Studios. Details are listed on the website.
