Peter Rabbit 2: James Corden sequel delayed by five months over coronavirus fears
Marks the second high-profile film, after ‘No Time to Die’, to have its release shifted over outbreak
Peter Rabbit 2 has become the second high-profile film to have its release delayed amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The James Corden-led sequel was due to be released in the UK on 27 March, but has now been pushed to a later date in August.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures were concerned about the effect international cinema closures would have on the film, with the original Peter Rabbit making up the bulk of its gross internationally.
Cinemas in Italy and China, two significant box office markets, have been closed as a result of coronavirus, while others have shut in France and Slovakia.
Sony were previously responsible for delaying the release of the new James Bond movie.
No Time to Die, which was originally scheduled for an April release, will now not appear in cinemas until November.
Corden voices the rabbit of the title in the sequel, which features Domhnall Gleeson and Rose Byrne in live-action scenes alongside the voices of Margot Robbie and Elizabeth Debicki.
Peter Rabbit 2 will now open in the UK on 7 August.
