Maria Bello and Frank Grillo will be joined by Cody Horn in the untitled James Wan thriller. Will Cannon is directing the film. Wan wrote the story that revolves around a police officer and a psychologist investigating the deaths of five people who were killed while trying to summon a ghost.
Seth may saddle up with Theron
Seth MacFarlane is looking to entice Charlize Theron to star opposite him in his movie A Million Ways to Die in the West. It will mark the film-maker's follow-up to his hit Ted and is billed as a Blazing Saddles-style comedy that follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him.
Big budget for a Herculean task
Finnish director Renny Harlin is ready to direct Hercules 3D, a $70-million-budgeted take on the Greek demigod written by Sean Hood and Hanna Weg. Casting now, the Millennium-backed project aims to be shooting in Bulgaria by May, ahead of Paramount and MGM's rival Hercules project, directed by Brett Ratner.
New scribe for shadowy story
Christopher Kyle is in negotiations to adapt Shadow and Bone, a DreamWorks-backed adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's young-adult book. The first story in the trilogy takes place in a land under attack by a darkness filled with human flesh-eaters. A young woman discovers she has a power that could turn the tide.
Thriller planned by a fussy Mann
Michael Mann is partnering with Chris Hemsworth for an untitled thriller. The filmmaker has settled on Hemsworth to star in a cyber-terrorism film co-written by Mann with Morgan Davis Foehl. It will mark Mann's return to directing after 2009's Public Enemies for the choosy filmmaker can spend years in development on projects.
An appetite for more movies
Lionsgate is to divide the third book in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy to make four movies from the three tales. Danny Strong has been tasked with writing the second part of the adaptation of the finale Mockingjay, having drafted the first to the satisfaction of the studio. Jennifer Lawrence stars.
