Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Mark Hamill tweets major spoiler about Luke Skywalker's fate in upcoming film

The actor's shaving habits may have given a lot more away than intended

With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens getting closer by the minute, it seems more and more spoilers keep leaking onto the internet.

This time, it’s Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, has apparently leaked some crucial Star Wars news that could change everything fans thought to be true.

In an early morning Tweet, the actor appeared to confirm his character will survive the upcoming film by confirming he is currently filming Episode VIII, which will be directed by Looper’s Rian Johnson.

Hamill’s message seemed harmless enough, centring on the actor’s shaving habits, stating he last trimmed his facial hair on the 22 October for the DC TV show The Flash.

The actor then revealed that it had grown back just in time for filming of Episode VIII (the 64-year-old previously confirmed he was contractually obliged to grow a beard for the film).

It was previously thought Luke may not survive the events of The Force Awakens, but this information proves otherwise. Fans have, however, pointed out that the Jedi Knight could return as a “Force Ghost” much like Obi-Wan Kenobi did in the original trilogy.

In other Star Wars news, George Lucas recently said why Disney scrapped his ideas for Episode VII, saying: “The issue was, they looked at the stories, and they said we want to make something for the fans.”

It also turns out the film was only finished three weeks before the film actually reaches cinema screens on the 17 December. Director JJ Abrams reportedly “pulled an all-nighter” to finish the film.
