Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets its world premiere city and date
A London premiere will follow soon after
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has set Los Angeles as the site for its (probably enormous) world premiere, which will take place on 14 December.
Director JJ Abrams and his cast will attend the special screening, which will no doubt have a few of the show’s aliens and droids on the red carpet to..
A London premiere will also take place however, and in terms of getting to see the film first, Europe is the best place to be.
The sequel officially opens first in France on December 16, followed by the UK on 17 December - not opening to the general public in the US until the 18th.
Actors including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley will no doubt be in force at the LA premiere, the same city Star Wars' first ever film was premiered in.
Interest is so high in the film that preview screenings for press are likely to be few and fair between, as Disney is determined to keep the film’s plot and secrets under wraps.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be one of, if not the biggest openings in cinema history, likely taking billions of dollars over the Christmas period.
