If the new Captain America: Civil War trailer is anything to go by, this could be Marvel's most intense outing yet.

Shown during the Super Bowl, the 30-second teaser provides a glimpse at what fans can expect from the showdown between Cap (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.).

The film follows a popular plot from the comics which sees the two former friends lock heads when world governments attempt to introduce an act that'll see superhero activity regulated. While Tony Stark supports this notion, Captain America resists and their fellow superheroes are forced to pick sides.

The clip makes good on the film's huge cast list - easily Marvel's biggest yet.

As well as the two heroes who will face off, the teaser shows Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Vision (Paul Bettany) - to name a few - as well as villains played by Frank Grillo and Daniel Brühl.

Civil War is set to introduce Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther - an individual film on whom will be directed by Creed's Ryan Coogler - and Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Returning to direct following Captain America's acclaimed first sequel The Winter Soldier are Anthony and Joe Russo who will also tackle the next two Avengers films, Infinity War - Parts 1 and 2.

Captain America: Civil War will be released on 29 April.
