There is a lot of excitement around the upcoming Wolverine sequel; not only will it be Hugh Jackman’s last film as the clawed mutant, but it marks the beginning of a new wave of X-Men films, post-Apocalypse.
The title of the third instalment in the solo spin-off has seemingly been revealed after Fox Studios registered two new titles: Weapon X and Wolverine: Weapon X.
If indeed the story does follow revolve around Weapon X - the weapon's programme that injected the mutant with metal - this would run wonderfully from Apocalypse’s post-credit scene.
It was long rumoured Wolverine 3 would follow the Old Man Logan story arc, but the new titles hint at another rumour; that X-23, a young female mutant with similarities to Wolverine, will feature prominently in the story and likely replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
The story could, of course, play off both comic book arcs, as Fox has often mixed together Marvel stories to fit the big screen.
Meanwhile, earlier this year the first images of Jackman preparing for the film were posted online.
