Zack Snyder wants to make a George Washington movie, and this is probably what it'll look like

"Fear not American, for tonight we dine... IN VIRGINIA!"

Robot Chicken are prophets of a real and terrifying future.

In a sketch that dates back to 2009 (via SlashFilm), the show poked fun at Zack Snyder's 300 with the spoof, 1776; which imagined an adrenaline-pumped take on the American Revolutionary War.

"From the people who claim 300 is a true story, comes the tale of our nation's birth," the announcer proclaims; before unrolling a series of ripped dudes punching polar bears while crossing the Delaware, and John Hancock slow-mo signing the Declaration of Independence.

Except, it's all about to come true. Snyder has expressed an interest in bringing to screen the life of America's first president, George Washington. The suggestion is hidden inside a Bloomberg profile of the director, and his upcoming Batman v Superman;

"Meanwhile, Snyder is spending late nights in his cavernous office working on the upcoming Justice League movie. He’s also thinking about making films that aren’t comic book adaptations. Sort of. One of these days, he’d like to make one about George Washington in the style of 300.

"He has a picture in his office of the Revolutionary War hero crossing the icy Delaware on his way to decimate the British in the Battle of Trenton. 'We were talking about it,' Snyder says. 'The first thing we asked was, well, how are we going to make it look? I pointed at this painting. It looks like 300. It’s not that hard.'"

What's particularly funny here is that his bombastic, wildly inaccurate recounting of the Battle of Thermopylae (yes it's a comic book adaptation, but still), is still the only evidence of Snyder's take on history we have. In 2016; and we're meant to trust him with a movie about the very founding of a nation.

Of course, there's always the chance Snyder will successfully carve out the rugged, patriotic Washington of the American mythos; but there's also a chance the film will end with him riding into the Battle of Yorktown on a bald eagle.
