The Twilight Saga's Robert Pattinson will take the lead role in Cosmopolis, joining Marion Cotillard ( Inception) and Paul Giamatti ( Duplicity) in the thriller directed by David Cronenberg ( A History of Violence, Naked Lunch).

The adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel follows a 28-year-old financial wizard and billionaire riding around Manhattan in his limo for 24 hours, stuck in traffic, during he cheats on his wife, is stalked, and loses his fortune. Originally Colin Farrell was in talks for the role.

Cronenberg's next film is A Dangerous Method, with Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender, about psychoanalyst Carl Jung.

Pattinson will next be seen in Water for Elephants with Christoph Walz and Reese Witherspoon, releasing April 22, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, opening on November 11.

Cotillard is next in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris with Michael Sheen, Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams, due next September, and Steven Soderbergh's Contagion, costarring Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.

Production for Cosmopolis begins in May in Toronto, Canada for a 2012 release.
