The Lucky One (101 mins, 12A)

The latest of many mawkish melodramas based on a Nicholas Sparks novel miscasts elfin Zac Efron (above) as a US Marine who tracks down a blue-eyed blonde he saw in a photo while in Iraq. A film with sun-kissed montages where its story should be.

Beauty and the Beast 3D (84 mins, U)

The anniversary reissue of one of Disney's most delightful cartoons. A treat, even if it has been sullied by an ugly conversion to 3D.

Juan of the Dead (100 mins, 15)

Better than its title might suggest: Juan is a Cuban zombie horror-comedy with some satirical bite.

Silent House (85 mins, 15)

Inferior US remake of last year's Uruguayan horror film. It appears to have been shot in one unbroken take, but this gimmick doesn't excuse the narrative fudging or lack of scares. Elizabeth Olsen should be choosing better roles.

Angel & Tony (87 mins, 15)

Pleasant if utterly unbelievable French romantic drama in which a woman who looks and dresses like a Vogue model throws herself at a doughy Normandy fisherman.

Piggy (100 mins, 18)

Gruesome, unedifying Britpic about a shy Londoner (Martin Compston) who teams up with a vigilante.
