Denis Lavant's “performer”, while being ferried around Paris in a white stretch limo, adopts 10 different guises –including a withered old lady, a troubled parent, a hoodlum and, most memorably, a one-eyed, barefoot, flower-munching troll/leprechaun.
In this latter guise he interrupts a photo-shoot, bites off a camera assistant's fingers, abducts Eva Mendes, takes her to an underground lair and strips off. She bears up remarkably well as does Kylie Minogue who pops up for a rather touching cameo in Carax's singular, deranged and sometimes witty exploration of identity.
