Dogme figurehead Thomas Vinterberg memorably exposed historical child abuse in Festen.

In The Hunt the alleged abuse is false. Mads Mikkelsen's gentle kindergarten teacher is persecuted for a crime against a five-year-old girl that he didn't commit. There is no ambiguity here, he's innocent and the scenes where the small-town Danish community turn on him are suitably unbearable. Vinterberg's tense thriller is excellent on the mentality of the mob and the consequences of children being exposed to pornography.
