Scene stealer Christopher Walken, once again, appears to be acting in an entirely different film (a better one) in Martin McDonagh's absurd but entertaining black comedy.
The unruly tale centres on Colin Farrell's sozzled screenwriter who finds himself entangled in LA's criminal underbelly due to his unhinged best pal (Sam Rockwell), a dognapper who has stolen the Shih Tzu of a sadistic hoodlum (Woody Harrelson). A violent, unnecessarily so, film redeemed by Walken's weary Quaker. Tarantino does this sort of thing better though.
