Homefront: Film review - Sylvester Stallone's script is plodding genre fare
(15) Gary Fleder, 100 mins Starring: Jason Statham, James Franco, Rachelle Lefevre, Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth
Scripted by Sylvester Stallone, this is a routine action thriller with a storyline that seems partly inspired by Jacques Tourneur's Out of the Past.
Jason Statham plays an undercover cop trying to build a new life for himself and his daughter in redneck small-town America after busting a Hells Angels kingpin.
James Franco (reprising his sleazy villain schtick from Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers) is a local meth dealer who takes against him.
It's a pity to see a director of the ability of Fleder (Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead) directing such plodding genre fare.
