Two celebrities have caused uproar after fuelling speculation that Harvey Weinstein is in Los Angeles days before the Golden Globes are due to take place.

Pulp Fiction star Rosanna Arquette appeared to post a social media message claiming that the disgraced film producer - who faces numerous accusations of sexual harassment, assault and rape - was staying at “the very same hotel in Beverly Hills" where press for the awards ceremony is being conducted at.

Fellow actor Ellen Barkin then fanned the flame by posting a follow-up tweet which read: “Is serial rapist harvey weinstein in los angeles ? on the wknd of the Golden Globes. Why? WHy? WHY?” and also, “I forgot to say “alleged”…because i know better [sic].”

According to Page Six, however, Weinstein's reps responded to the claims stating they were “false.”

This Sunday's ceremony will be the first major awards event following the sexual harassment scandal to have rocked Hollywood, with host Seth Meyers indirectly confirming he won't be shied away from and will be a major talking point in his opening monologue.

Page Six reports that insiders are concerned they keep “spotting” Weinstein, with one stating: “I was driving in LA and I saw a fat guy get out of a car — and I was like, ‘Stop it, it’s Harvey!’ But it was not.”

Weinstein has denied all allegations of nonconsensual sex.
