Sigur Rós, Caribou and Akala to bring a mix of electronica and politics to London’s Victoria Park

After a successful maiden outing last year, Citadel Festival returns to London’s Victoria Park offering up an impressive line-up of arts, culture and even a sprinkle of sport.

Sundays are for chilling out and the headline acts should not disappoint – an ethereal trio of Sigur Rós, Caribou and Maribou State will take the edge off any sore heads from the night before.

It is one of only two performances in the UK by Sigur Rós this year; so it’s likely the Icelandic experimental band will put on a show for their London fans.

Elsewhere, you’ll find the equal parts sassy-and-soothing tones of Lianne La Havas who we’re hoping will throw in a couple of covers like this.

Continuing with the soothing theme – a must-see will be local boys, Honne, whose popularity has skyrocketed in 2016. It might be the last opportunity to see them perform to a smaller audience before their debut album drops later this month.

And for those wanting something more upbeat (and sweaty) – you’ll find a handful of DJs at the Fabric Sessions stage or jumpy punk-infused orchestras at the Park Bandstand stage.

Arguably, the attraction of Citadel over other day festivals is what else is on offer. Well, there’s plenty.

A special version of ‘Sunday Papers Live’ will take place where expert speakers give their view on the sections you’d traditionally find in your Sunday paper. Events like these sometimes descend into hoity-toity affairs but the experts booked will ensure that isn’t the case.

The supremely-talented Akala will give his opinion on business (we assume he’ll have a lot to say on a post-Brexit society); the ever-expanding Sofar Sounds on culture and there’s even Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards (fresh from box office success) enlightening us about sport.

Other entertainment includes Underbelly comedians testing out their material before Edinburgh Fringe next month; and plenty of circus, swing and folk dancing at the Meadow Stage.

You’ll be sorted for food with posh-festival nosh provided by the likes of Mr Bao, Bubbledogs and Patty & Bun; and be sure to grab yourself a cider and have a boogie at the Koppaberg Urban Forest.
