Caught in the Net: Jay Z is here, there and everywhere

Jay Z is a small stakeholder in the new Barclay's Centre indoor arena in Brooklyn and the basketball team (the Brooklyn Nets) that will play there.

To mark the newly opened venue the Brooklyn rapper played a series of sell-out shows there. The final concert, last Saturday, was also streamed live on Jay Z's YouTube channel, youtube.com/user/jayz. And to hammer home the multi-platform cross-pollination, Jay-Z also this week released an eight-track live EP on iTunes culled from the shows, with some videos added, too.

Fowl play by Marshallsay

The Glasgow electronic producer Tom Marshallsay this week released his debut album Brothers Fowl on Notown, the label run by fellow electro seeker Gold Panda. A track from the record – and a non-album track – are free to download at dammantle.com. Also on his Soundcloud page I happened across a stream of another recent four-song split EP of minimal techno he put together with more Glaswegian producers Lovers' Rights. Mysterious origins of Child of Lov

The Child of Lov is the mysterious moniker of an up-and-coming one-man band apparently emerging originally out of Atlanta, Georgia. No doubt the enigmatic figure behind it will become clearer when his album appears with contributions from the likes of DOOM and Damon Albarn at some point next year. In the meantime we have his first official single which was released digitally this week. “Heal” is an addictive melange of skittering soul, funk and rock and comes with a fun video of stylish kids larking about in Atlanta – see it at youtu.be/OiBM8KZVHyI.
