Glastonbury 2015: Azealia Banks cancels Saturday set due to vocal problems

The singer said she was told by her doctor to rest her vocal chords

Azealia Banks has cancelled her performance at Glastonbury 2015.

The US rapper was due to appear on the Other Stage at 1.25pm on Saturday 27 June but has pulled out due to problems with her health.

Glastonbury confirmed the news, adding that the “212” singer will be replaced by four-piece rock band The Strypes.

She told Billboard: “Today I was put on vocal rest by my doctor which is forcing me to cancel Glastonbury.

“You have no idea how frustrated and said this makes me because I lvoe the UK and Glastonbury so much, you have all supported me from the early days and I was really looking forward to putting on an incredible show for you all, rain or shine!”

Banks was on form for her Coachella performance in April, singing a tight, fautless 45 minute set.

The rapper had been off the live scene since trying to complete her debut album Broke with Expensive Taste, which she finished in 2014, three years after the releas of her hit single “212”.
