50 Cent to host his own variety show

The series will feature live music, stand-up comedy and magic

50 Cent's come a long way since releasing In Da Club in 2003.

Having released multiple platinum-selling albums and starred in numerous films, the rapper is now becoming the unlikely TV host of his own variety show.

Currently in development, the plan is for the series to feature live music, stand-up comedy, sketches and magic.

"I grew up watching variety shows and am excited to put my own spin on the format," 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, said.

"I hope everyone is ready to bring their talent forward; I want to show the world the best of the best."

Jackson, who filed for bankruptcy in 2015, will executive produce the series with The Hollywood Reporter stating it will air on US network A&E.

Last year, the "P.I.M.P" rapper starred in boxing drama Southpaw alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. His other film credits include biopic Get Rich or Die Tryin' and a cameo in Paul Feig comedy Spy.

He will release his sixth studio album, Street King Immortal, later this year as well as bingeing on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway for research, we're sure.
